Ladies, raise your hands if you've ever opened your closet door and just stood there with a blank stare? So many of us can probably relate to having so many clothes but nothing to wear. Whether you're going to the office, out on a hot date, or going out for drinks with the girls, we've got you covered. Take a look at these top 6 basic essentials every girl needs in their closets.
The Basic Tee
You cant go wrong with having basic t-shirts in neutral colors such as black, cream, gray, or white. Taking a plain white tee for example and pairing it with a blazer and/or some nice jeans can give you a foundation to build your outfit on.
The good thing about owning some basic t-shirts is that they don't discriminate between a daytime look or a night time look. You can wear them at anytime of the day and add in some really nice accessories to dress things up. Another good thing about basic t-shirts is that you can find them at just about any clothing store.
The Blazer
Can we talk about timeless pieces? Blazers have been around forever!!! We highly recommend having at least one hanging up in your closet. With a blazer you can go "corporate" and wear it with a pair of nice slacks/trousers or have a more casual look with a pair of your favorite jeans and a basic tee.
Blazers are everywhere and can be worn at any age and in every season. They also come in many lengths and variety of colors. My favorite style of blazer to wear is called the "boyfriend" blazer. A boyfriend blazer is simply an oversize blazer (Pictured on the above). As you can see they are very stylish and we recommend rolling up those sleeves when wearing one. Jeans
Come on....who doesn't own a pair? Nevertheless, we had to include them in along with the other basic essentials in this post. Jeans can be dressed up or dressed down. Jeans have become so much of a staple that they are now somewhat acceptable to wear in the workplace.
Today, people are being very creative with their denim. Styles that were once reserved for the runways are now making an appearance on the city streets. Jeans are a MUST when you are out of ideas on what to wear.
The LBD (Little Black Dress)

When it comes to choosing basic accessories on those days where you aren't feeling that "ice me out" vibe, there is one accessory that stands the test of time. Sis, we're talking hoop earrings. Hoops are known to be edgy and can be worn with any casual outfit to add a bit of flavor and sass. They also come in any size and color that you can think of. So, don't be afraid to rock a small eloquent pair to the office.
Hoops are also very accessible which means that you can find them literally almost anywhere. These are our favorite pair of what we call "throw on" jewelry when you're on the go. If you don't already own a pair, we highly recommend purchasing some.
Watches are also a staple that can give even the most casual outfit a polished look. Pairing an outfit with a wide face watch will definitely make a statement. Digital watches have been all the rage for a few years now. They are also very fashionable coming in a variety of styles and colors.
Shoes
Everyone knows that tennis shoes are a basic staple that just about everyone has in their closets. There are so many brands, designs, and colors available to match with any outfit. If you are bold and want to add a little sophistication to your look, we recommend having a basic pair of heels set aside in your closet.
Heels aren't for everyone but, a true fashionista knows that they are sometimes necessary. Adding a basic heel into your wardrobe will kick your outfits up a notch and add a nice touch of elegance. We always like to say the you cant go wrong with having at least one pair of basic black, white and nude heels. These three basic colors are a life saver that you can through on with any outfit.
